When the first thing I see is a road block or what appears to be a dead end, I derail my interpretation by labeling the situation as a ‘NOpportunity.’ These are simply circumstances whereby the no’s, can’ts, and don’ts are initially the most obvious aspects, but not the only ones.
Opportunity, by nature, is introverted. It won’t appear with flashing lights and boisterous music. Instead, the greatest opportunities are revealed to those who seek them (Tweet this quote).
While many people fixate on the inconvenient nature of unsuspecting challenges, Mavericks explore the contrary: the opportunity. A Maverick’s approach to life is less about skill and more about perspective — the way in which they frame what they encounter.
Winston Churchill’s famed words summarize this concept in one sentence, “A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” And the British philosopher, Bertrand Russell, once asserted: “The greatest challenge to any thinker is stating the problem in a way that will allow a solution.”
It’s true: most “problems” simply indicate a problem with perception (Tweet this quote).
So, what’s your current NOpportunity?
