We’ve all heard it before: Think outside of the box. But sometimes it’s good to see a visual cue in our environment that reminds us to do this more frequently. That’s why I created this piece (and Maxims 4 Mavericks).
We can only create more ‘luck’ once we acknowledge the source of it: Ourselves (Tweet this quote). We are the vessel of wishes we need to create an incredible life.
Hidden in plain sight is the ingredient of a deeply satisfying life. We all enjoy having lady luck shine favorably upon us, but nothing replaces the satisfaction that comes from taking initiative and personal action.
Fear can serve a valuable purpose, but sometimes it merely holds us back from living the life we really want. In these cases, it’s completely okay to submit your letter of resignation.
Doubt is a very human emotion and can, at times, serve a valuable purpose, but sometimes it merely holds us back from living the life we really want. In these cases, it’s completely okay to submit your letter of resignation.
When Jack Canfield and I were writing The Success Principles for Teens we knew the first chapter had to be “Take 100% Responsibility for Your Life” because without a full understanding and application of this concept we’re merely reacting to life and observing from the sidelines.
By definition a ‘norm’ is common. Thus, being ‘normal’ means being common (Tweet this quote). It means thinking and doing in the same way as the majority. Yet, being ‘normal’ is still encouraged by society.
Apart from the rare exceptions (that, for better or worse, also get the most exposure), one’s true passion in life is most often preceded by a passion to do excellent work.
And it all begins, somewhat ironically, with an often self-initiated passion to become passionate about giving your all.
Innovation and progress requires testing the rules and assumptions that most people believe are inescapable and unchangeable. And in the process, new perspectives often present new approaches that change the way the rules effect our lives.
For instance, we all know gravity is a very real thing. But while many people thought this meant it would be impossible for humans to fly, there were some Mavericks who decided to challenge that ‘rule.’
Life can be tough — there’s no doubt about it. Sometimes the seas are rough and the emotional baggage becomes increasingly heavy.
But it’s not brute strength we need to stay afloat, it’s a buoyant disposition — an inherent inclination to look for the best, remain lighthearted, and laugh when possible.
We’re all familiar with gravity, but we don’t often anticipate life’s responsibilities and challenges to develop their own gravity as well.
